Job Title: Junior Estimator

Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, TX 77034.

Primary Function:

The Junior Estimator works closely with Engineering, Sales, and Project Management to determine the cost associated with completing the scope of work for a project. The Junior Estimator will collect and analyze data in order to estimate the labor, equipment, direct and indirect costs required for the execution of high voltage EPC projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
  • Coordinate project negotiation kick-off meeting to define the scope and strategy of negotiations.
  • Prepare, issue, receive and review proposals and pricing.
  • Create and evaluate project negotiation schedules to ensure project timeline meets customer requirements.
  • Analyze drawing specifications and other documents to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Evaluate and assess vendor and subcontract pricing in order to provide optimal value to the customer.
  • Communicate all scope changes and pricing requirements to the team during the negotiation process.
  • Input and review scope of submitted engineering bills of material.
  • Generate project cash flow and project cancellation schedules.
  • Perform material take-offs and estimate pricing as required in order to meet customer deadlines.
  • Prepare comments and clarifications to further define scope of work.
  • Attend project scope meetings and job site visits in order to provide final quality control for scope of work, material and labor pricing.
  • Coordinate management review and finalize bid summaries.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
  • Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
  • Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Accounting, Finance or equivalent from an accredited university is required.

Possess skills in the following areas:

  • Ability to multitask and respond to changing deadlines.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed/required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Knowledge of common word processing and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires minimal physical effort.
  • Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%).
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
