Job Description

Job Description H2scan is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (non-manager) to join our engineering team and help design advanced solutions for new high-tech markets. We are looking for a candidate who is a self-starter and takes ownership of their assignments. If you enjoy dynamic work environments, have excellent creative problem solving skills and are able to work independently or collaboratively, then this may be the job for you.

H2scan is a manufacturer of hydrogen-specific gas sensors and systems for customers in the refining, chemical processing, semiconductor, metal processing, transportation and energy sectors as well as government and university research laboratories. Using non-consumable solid-state technology, H2scan produces world class sensors and systems for the reliable monitoring of hydrogen levels in process gas streams, power transformers and general safety applications. H2scan has become the standard for hydrogen specific sensing technology and has recently decided to develop a new generation of advanced sensors. We encourage you to consider joining our team as we attempt to develop this exciting new technology.

Job Functions

  • Assist in the design and prototyping of innovative products. Prepare detailed design drawings using SolidWorks. Innovative ideas are strongly encouraged.
  • Create and revise 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks CAD per the requirements of a cross-discipline engineering team
  • Assist in the fabrication and assembly of new test systems including dynamic fluid flow, thermal and accelerated life experiments.
  • Execute experiments for the process engineering team on hydrogen measurement, flow rate effects, study basic kinetics, etc.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines in providing solutions on a rapid-paced work environment

Qualification Required

  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Advanced skill with SolidWorks CAD for both 3D modeling and drawings.
  • Proven capability with meeting deadlines and staying within a given budget.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of their assignments
  • Strong problem solver.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Must be a local candidate (commuting distance to Valencia, CA).

Desired Experience

  • 3+ years previous engineering work experience.
  • Hands-on experience with the design and construction of mechanical assemblies and systems (electrical, mechanical, fluids and thermodynamic).
  • Cross-disciplinary engineering design experience. Ability to integrate electronics and electromechanical devices into mechanical packages. MEMS experience is a huge plus.
  • Experience with precision machining, product assembly, design fixtures, system and subsystem integration.
  • Experience taking a project from concept through production.
