The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in life sciences and patent prosecution, with a focus on organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, gene therapy, or related fields.Duties and ResponsibilitiesConduct patent prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.Perform patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.Conduct intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions.Advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.Participate in patent litigation and post-grant proceedings.Collaborate with scientists and inventors to understand inventions and draft patent applications.RequirementsJD degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the Bar in the jurisdiction of New York.Membership in (or eligibility for membership in) the Bar of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.1+ years of legal practice experience, preferably in intellectual property law at a law firm.Strong academic credentials, including a PhD (or MD with research experience) in one of the specified life sciences fields.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.SkillsProficiency in conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches.Ability to draft clear and concise patent applications and responses to office actions.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.Knowledge of current developments in intellectual property law, especially patent law related to life sciences.Benefits OfferedThe firm provides a comprehensive benefits package including:Healthcare coverageLife insuranceHealth Savings Accounts (HSAs)Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)Wellbeing programs and resources This law firm was founded over 40 years ago to provide legal services for technology, clean tech sectors, and life sciences companies that are making world-changing innovations.
