Job Description


The Interconnection Coordinator in the Sales Operations team provides technical support for project land review and utility interconnection applications. They help projects with interconnection needs, ensuring compliance with utility rules and regulations, tracking project eligibility, and managing communication on land requirements and interconnection schedules. The Coordinator also serves as a point of contact for customers and utility representatives. Additionally, they support the Sales Operations and Project Management team with technical contributions, project tracking, data management, and interconnection administrative follow-up.

  • Prepare and submit all documents required for customer Land Review packages and project Interconnection applications. Requires coordination with Sales and Project Management teams as well as direct communication with prospective and current customers, and utility representatives. This includes parcel entitlements and land lease documents demonstrating ownership of parcels, pre-applications, and all technical documents.
  • Work cross-functionally to understand tariff requirements for implementation of nuanced project types including battery storage and microgrid applications.
  • Complete and submit project pre-application requests and coordinate fee payment.
  • Act as point of contact for the company vis-à-vis utility queries related to Land Review, Engineering clarifications, and Application completeness. Includes outreach to Utility Solar Service Center as needed.
  • Maintain interconnection tracker and keep up dates of actions / deadlines. Includes tracking status of all anticipated and active interconnection applications through acceptance and providing weekly updates.
  • Maintain all file structures relating to interconnection application materials submitted, updated, signatures needed, utility review, utility invoices, etc.
  • Participate in CalCom interconnection calls to process utility and tariff updates, address issues on specific projects.
  • Review project interconnection studies and manage tracking of utility costs for both internal and external customers.
  • Provide and coordinate all required documentation for a project to achieve PTO.
  • Coordinate equipment modification submittals to utility for current projects in conjunction with input from Project Managers (PM)’s. Track the status of modifications and approvals.
  • Coordinate smart meter installation with PMs and clients.
  • Coordinate with Sales extensively on communicating land requirements (including meter aggregation requirements) for prospective and current customers during the project development phase.
  • Support potential and current customers to speed up interconnection application processes, and optimization of existing solar assets through a) conducting meter re-aggregations, and b) customer technical support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience in Engineering, Design, Sciences, or something that fosters analytical thinking.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience related to interconnection.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Demonstrated ability to review detailed documentation and report on results
  • Proficiency in current versions of Word, Excel, and cloud computing platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments
  • Ability to initiate, maintain, and complete both short-term and long-term projects simultaneously
  • Able to work independently and work effectively as a member of a team
  • Able to handle regular interruptions to serve the needs of others while maintaining focus on multiple priorities and short and long-term deadlines
  • Able to finish projects both quickly and accurately
  • Able to proactively seek out ways to improve upon existing methodologies
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with employees, maintaining a warm and professional manner with a positive employee relations and customer service mindset
  • Strong ability to utilize spreadsheets to track and organize application materials.

Preferred

  • Experience in renewable technologies
  • Experience in the solar industry, ideally with an understanding of net energy metering (NEM), and the California utility regulatory landscape
  • Experience in GIS and mapping.
  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Experience with Smartsheet.

None.

Work Environment

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Travel as needed.
