Job Description

  • Coordinating and undertaking mine-related water projects and analysis. Refine dewatering/ depressurization activities, groundwater monitoring and water supply development
  • Install and maintain remote data instrumentation and transmission equipment.
  • Assist mine operations with guidance in pump sizing and pumping solutions.
  • Achieving operational efficiencies for groundwater management for the mine, particularly regarding meeting the mine plan and providing water supply security.
  • Management, analysis and evaluation of groundwater production, groundwater level / pressure and groundwater quality data.
  • Meeting compliance obligations regarding water and water reporting.
  • Working co-operatively and collaboratively with the HGM workforce, particularly geotechnical engineers, mine planners, environmental scientists, and operations staff.
  • Prepare, manage, and project water balance for mine-site.
  • Manage sub-contractors / consultants, and develop work plans and scopes
  • Oversee drilling services contractors as necessary.
  • All other duties as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree in hydrogeology, water resources engineering, or other relevant discipline. Masters degree a plus.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in US without sponsorship.
  • Familiarity with general best practices related to groundwater / surface water management.
  • Familiarity with mine dewatering and mine water management a plus.
  • Willingness to relocate to South Carolina
  • Willingness to learn new skills in the water management field.
  • 1-10 years of working experience, preferred in the mining industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Occasionally may be required to work early morning or evening hours to meet global organizational needs.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
