Position Summary

With a clear vision, high-leverage strategies and significant and sustained financial support, Rewiring America is growing rapidly. We are seeking an entrepreneurial Head of Network to lead the organization’s public-private partnerships, stakeholder collaboration, engagement with elected officials and government agencies, and coalition management. The position reports directly to the VP of Network.

In this newly created position, the Head of Network will be responsible for managing Rewiring America’s relationships with nonprofits, community organizations, businesses, and government officials to advance Rewiring America’s mission to electrify everything for everyone. The Head of Network ensures consistency and impact across all of Rewiring’s partnerships at the national level and in states across the country. As a go-to person for elected officials and influential individuals, the Head of Network will play a pivotal role serving as a surrogate and in driving high-impact collaboration in service to our mission. The role embodies the highest level of program related strategy and execution, driving and ensuring the overall success of our work. 

What You Will Do

The Head of Network holds key responsibilities that will evolve over time as the team grows and functions are distributed. We anticipate a focus on the following{{:}}

Team Management and Internal Collaboration{{:}}

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring the success of the team, external consultants, and campaigns.
  • Coach staff to effectively contribute to impact-oriented strategy development and implementation and to support, build, and navigate complex coalition relationships and challenges.
  • Provide leadership and support to departments and their respective teams.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and high-performance.
  • Support and empower team members to excel in their roles and achieve organizational objectives.

CEO Thought Partnership and Activation{{:}}

  • Act as a trusted executive advisor, providing insights and strategic guidance.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, policy developments, and emerging opportunities to inform strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the CEO’s impact within the political and policy space.

Strategy Development and Execution{{:}} 

  • Oversee strategy development and execution of all of our external partnership-based programming and public engagement work, from ideation through implementation and execution. 
  • Drive impact across our relationships with external stakeholders in service to Rewiring America’s programmatic priorities. 
  • This work is focused on the following three areas{{:}} 

1. Coalition Management 

  • Build out and refine Rewiring America’s coalition strategy to make Rewiring America a go-to convener and relationship builder in the electrification ecosystem.  
  • Lead the team that manages all of the Rewiring America coalitions, including the CEO Coalition, Local Government Leaders, and bicameral Electrification Caucus, as well as ongoing partnerships with other constituencies, especially climate, labor, interfaith, and economic development.

2. Program Management  

  • Working closely with Rewiring America’s Events director and VP of Network, organize the annual Rewiring Together Summit and regional events and programming with local and state partners, fostering best-in-class events programming for shared learning, connection-making, and impact. 
  • Working closely with other programs, including Creative, deploy and manage civic engagement activations such as Rewiring America’s Electric Enthusiast program. 
  • Working with the VP of Network and CEO, manage the Government Relations staff and consultants. 

3. Partnership Development Strategy 

  • Work in collaboration with our Growth, Community Implementation, and Product teams, developing partnerships with a variety of constituencies and leveraging those relationships to advance our national top-of-funnel and local, Rewiring Communities-driven and civic engagement efforts.
  • Work in concert with our Policy program to build awareness and momentum for our state and federal policy goals. 
  • Work closely with Rewiring America’s leadership team to shape public perception and champion the organization’s mission and values.

Core

  • Demonstrable commitment to the mission, vision, policies, and goals of Rewiring America.
  • 15+ years of increasing responsibility identifying, cultivating, and nurturing relationships and partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies, including interest groups, private sector leaders, community organizations, advocacy groups, elected officials, and influencers to build a broad coalition of support. 
  • Strategic thinker with keen understanding of political dynamics, policy issues, and public opinion.  
  • Entrepreneurial drive to build an organization from the ground up; prior start-up experience is optimal.
  • Ability to navigate complex relationships with diplomacy and intercultural competency.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences. 
  • Outstanding leadership and managerial abilities, with a history of successfully managing teams and promoting collaboration.

Preferred

  • Experience in the climate movement with an understanding of the current landscape and players.
  • Content knowledge in demand-side electrification and/or renewable energy.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $200,000-$250,000 USD commensurate with experience. 

Comprehensive benefits package includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 160 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year (13 days during Presidential and Congressional elections). We have an office closure between Christmas and New Year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment. Regular, full-time employees and part-time employees are eligible to take up to sixteen weeks of parental leave, in all cases related to birth, adoption, or foster care starting from the first day of employment.
