Job Description

Location: Remote with quarterly travel, onsite offices in Dallas and Washington DC area for local employees

Compensation: $140,000 – $160,000 + annual bonus

Reports to: Director

Summary

Acre is working with a leading fast-growth, boutique real estate consultancy on a Head of Climate Risk Services role that serves as the consulting partner for their commercial real estate, PE and investment lending clients to design and implement programs focused on building decarbonization and climate risk.

This role serves as the internal and external (client-facing) expert on climate risk management and strategy development. The role is designated as a Senior Manager level within the firm’s consulting matrix. The role will have a small team of direct reports.

Role Responsibilities

  • Act as the carbon expert with clients and serve as a strategic advisor on decarbonization and climate risk topics.
  • Ensure the achievement of the Climate Risk team objectives and develop team training programs.
  • Oversee engagement delivery services under your oversight and ensure quality. Train and educate team members as needed to execute on delivery.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the company’s team of consultants regarding technical expertise on climate and decarbonization services.
  • Manage the performance and development of direct and indirect reports.
  • Contribute to business development efforts with the executive leadership team.
  • Advise on internal technology solutions and modules that support climate risk management and decarbonization services.
  • Stay abreast on industry topics, standards and frameworks for buildings and work with leadership on strategies to address industry-changing needs.
  • Drive collaboration internally and externally in the sustainability industry and real estate sector.

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Deep knowledge of decarbonization, carbon accounting, and climate risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Deep knowledge of technical standards for building efficiency, electrification, and decarbonization.
  • Knowledge of energy, sustainability, and decarbonization practices and programs in the real estate sector and corporations.
  • Ability to lead internal and client engagements.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, communication skills and public speaking ability.
  • High degree of initiative, proactiveness, drive, enthusiasm, energy, and follow-through.

Required Experience and/or Education

  • Leading the management of energy/decarbonization client program delivery and/or serving as a strategic advisor to clients to design, develop and implement decarbonization strategies and programs.
  • Independently leading as the Project or Program Manager for multiple clients in the sustainability and decarbonization space in a client-facing role.
  • Independently developing and administering successful sustainability, energy and/or decarbonization programs at scale across large portfolios of commercial real estate assets, with specific expertise focused on one or more commercial sectors.
  • Independently developing and managing multiple time-based budgets, both as time and materials, as well as fixed price, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes. Experience with resource and capacity planning.
