Job Summary:

The Interdisciplinary Training Program for Predoctoral Research in the Education Sciences is one of a network of pre-doctoral training programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences. The program’s goal is to prepare a new generation of outstanding education scholars through training in methods of causal inference and supporting translational research activities through internship opportunities. The program seeks to build a community of interdisciplinary education scholars through a weekly seminar and other related activities. Fellows and associated faculty and researchers come from academic departments in education, social work, and across the social sciences. The community includes doctoral students in economics, political science, psychology, social welfare, sociology, educational leadership & policy analysis, educational policy studies, and educational psychology. The Graduate Program Manager will manage an interdisciplinary graduate training program for doctoral students funded by the Institute of Education Sciences within the United States Department of Education. The position involves extensive contact with graduate students and faculty from multiple campus units (in the School of Education, the College of Letters & Sciences, and the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work). The position includes both program management duties and grant management duties.

Responsibilities:

Manages the administrative activities of graduate degree program(s) and/or certificate(s). Performs activities which may include: recruitment, admissions, new student orientation, academic advising, monitoring of progress towards the degree, course and/or enrollment management, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, funding, course and/or program assessment, and academic program review. May oversee staff and/or graduate program functions.

  • 20% Serves as the expert resource for applicants, current students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of an academic program
  • 20% Manages the response, support, and advocacy for graduate students while continuously improving the student experience and overall graduate program
  • 20% Provides comprehensive advising services promoting graduate student success, retention, and degree completion. Advises on programs, graduate education, and university policies, processes, and procedures. Monitors degree progress and assists students in navigating resources and systems throughout the student lifecycle from matriculation to degree completion
  • 5% Maintains compliance with graduate program(s), school/college, and university requirements and technology systems related to admissions, assessment, academic degree progress/requirements, and program review. Makes policy and procedure recommendations and/or changes
  • 15% Oversees staff and/or graduate program functions
  • 15% Carries out general management duties, including tracking expenses, monitoring alignment of budget and activities with the funded proposal, drafting annual reports, supporting the principal investigators in applying for follow-up funding
  • 5% Engages in social media and other outreach related to the training program

Education:

Required
Bachelor’s Degree. Preferably in Education or related social science field and/or in a human resources related field.

Preferred
Master’s Degree in Education or related social science field and/or in a human resources related field.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Experience working with and/or supporting graduate students
  • Strong organization, writing and verbal communication skills

Preferred experience includes at least two of the following:

  • Prior experience working in program outreach, publicity, and social media
  • Grants management experience
  • Experience with grant post-award management, including producing reports for funding agencies
  • Experience mentoring individuals from minoritized groups.
  • Background in general education or higher education research

Work Type:

Part Time: 50%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $68,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications

The full-time annual salary for this position starts at $68,000. Since this is a 50% position (20 hours per week), this is equivalent to a minimum starting salary of $34,000.
