Job Description The Renewance Field Services Technician will provide technical support for industrial batteries used in stationary energy storage systems and electric vehicles, including hands on installation, maintenance, and repair of batteries. The Field Services Technician must be able to diagnose and resolve technical issues. This role will also assist with the implementation of new products using 2nd life batteries, and the testing of the batteries to evaluate capacity. The selected candidate can expect a fast paced, exciting learning environment through the rapid growth of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Repair and test battery energy storage system and electric vehicle batteries and related products
  • Use controls-related firmware necessary to communicate with and control the battery system
  • Support testing of 2nd life batteries and correct battery related performance issues including performing cell and module charging/balancing
  • Data gathering: Collect and manage data for various R/D activities for 2nd life battery applications
  • Testing: Create (or assist with creation of) test procedures and execute them on existing or newly created systems or designs
  • Documentation: Assist, prepare, and develop documentation for various scientific experiments including testing
  • Materials/Inventory: procure and secure products or suitable components to test and characterize
  • Support: Assist with deployment/installation of betas and provide technical support
  • Provide technical support for fault isolation and troubleshooting when required to travel to customer location
  • Communicate directly with the customer on all aspects of project execution including accurate and timely daily reporting
  • Coordinate return and repair of defective parts in support of warranty claims
  • Travel to and remain at assigned jobsites until assigned tasks are completed
  • Manage field tools for field assignments / projects
  • Must meet the minimum age requirement for renting a car due to traveling requirements
  • Must have a Valid DL

Requirements:

  • High School diploma and introductory college coursework preferred.
  • 2+ years relevant experience in mechanical or technical fields, with electrical technician & services in electrical power equipment or energy space preferred.
  • Experience with computers and installation of controls related firmware and software.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – customer or client service experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively work as an individual but also coordinate and work with a team.
  • Fast learner and capable of executing multiple projects and objectives.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks per commitment.
  • Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, and flexible.
  • Accomplishments that reflect leadership, teamwork, integrity, and accountability.
  • Willingness to travel and work with customers.

Desirable:

  • Degree in a technical field or Computer Science/Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, analyze, and interpret data
  • Knowledge of battery standards, regulations, and safety procedures
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in meeting project/program goals, while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and cost requirements
  • Project and people management experience
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in customer-focused problem solving
  • Previous OSHA certifications

Travel & Location:

Regional/National travel is required to customer sites for troubleshooting/balancing of batteries installed in various.
