ROLE SUMMARY

SunGrid is looking for a Field Service Technician to support the requirements of service, and ongoing maintenance and operations requirements of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Solar Systems in Texas. This position reports to the Technical Services Manager, or another management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. This position is located in Texas, United States and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 75%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect and maintain Solar and BESS assets per manufacturer, NETA and IEEE Standards in the field, at the site, and create supporting documentation through company reporting standards and processes which include citing issues, their severity and proposing recommendations
  • Review project drawings packages and manufacturer specifications and actual installed equipment to confirm assets meet design and manufacturer standards and are in a state of good repair
  • Test electrical devices to confirm specific operation is maintained as required
  • Maintain and follow industry accepted safety standards such as First Aid, Fall Arrest, electrical safety training (per authorized jurisdictional training partner), etc.
  • On occasion join SunGrid construction teams (SunGrid employees and subcontractors) to perform installation tasks required to complete a BESS installation
  • As required, be present for, instruct, guide and provide access and safety orientations to subcontractors or fellow employees who provide specialized services (services such as protection and control, inverter technicians, SCADA analysis)
  • Performing a wide range of technology tasks by operating computer for SEL relay event log downloads, inverter firmware updates, BESS system analytics, SCADA and HMI requirements
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations, attend company directed training
  • Provide excellent customer services to fellow employees, contracting partners and SunGrid end customers day in and day out
  • Participate in and be attentive for company and customer meetings and regular peer review of work prior to submission
  • Operate company vehicle in a safe manner
  • Conduct site safety assessments and identify all safety hazards on the job site, properly generate and complete JHA/JSA, LOTO, and other safety-related documentation as per OSHA and site-specific requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • 2-4 years of post-secondary education, preferably, in the renewable industry including Wind, Solar, and Battery
  • Electrical Background including either Electrician or Electrical Technician Training
  • 1+ years equivalent experience in servicing electrical power equipment in the commercial or utility energy field and/or formal electrical training
  • SCADA/PLC or Protection and Controls experience an asset
  • Medium and High voltage experience is an asset
  • Strong electrical mechanical day to day working aptitude and experience
  • Experience in renewables, preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Basic Microsoft Suite knowledge

SALARY RANGE FOR POSITION

The anticipated starting pay range of this position is $30.00- $45.00 hourly.

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the jobs minimum qualifications. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
