Position Summary
Gemma Power Systems is seeking a full-time Field IT Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll be on the front lines, providing critical IT support and solutions at Gemma’s active construction sites. Our IT department is dedicated to ensuring seamless operations by supporting, implementing, and enhancing the essential business functions required for both field support and back-office capabilities. Position Overview
As a Field IT Support Specialist, you will be the primary IT resource at various project sites, responsible for managing and deploying IT infrastructure, supporting end-users, and ensuring the smooth operation of all technological aspects at the job site. This role requires a strong foundation in technology hardware, software, networking, and infrastructure, coupled with the ability to work on your feet, travel between sites, and adapt to the demanding conditions of an active construction environment.
Job Responsibilities
- On-Site IT Management: Oversee & maintain all IT operations at construction sites, ensuring all systems are functional and optimized for the site’s needs.
- Technology Deployment & Support: Implement & support a diverse array of IT technologies, including Jira for ticketing, Azure Intune for device management, Active Directory for user and group management, and Microsoft 365 applications like Teams. Additionally, manage various other tools & resources to enhance collaboration, communication, and overall efficiency at the job site.
- End-User Support: Serve as the first point of contact for all IT-related issues at the project site, providing prompt & effective troubleshooting & solutions.
- Hardware & Software Management: Manage & maintain computer systems, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment such as printers, scanners, and copiers.
- Network Infrastructure: Set up, maintain, diagnose, and decommission network infrastructure, always ensuring reliable & secure connectivity.
- Procurement & Inventory Management: Manage the procurement and inventory of all IT equipment at the job site, ensuring that the necessary technology is available & functional.
- Security Compliance: Ensure adherence to physical & information security policies at the job site, safeguarding sensitive data and equipment.
- Policy Implementation: Ensure that all IT policies & procedures are followed and provide feedback to refine & improve processes.
- Resourceful Problem Solver: The ideal candidate will be able to think quickly and adapt to unforeseen challenges, using creativity to find effective solutions. This ensures that operations continue smoothly, even in high-pressure situations.
- Travel & Physical Requirements: Regular travel between job sites is required, with a willingness to work in both indoor & outdoor environments, adapting to the physical demands of the role.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in an IT Helpdesk role or similar, preferably with field experience.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server Environments, networking protocols, and IT infrastructure.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and time management skills.
- Ability to diagnose & resolve IT issues swiftly and effectively.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to move around a heavy construction environment.
- Occasionally ascend/descend ladder to service equipment.
- Move boxes and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, and extreme heat/cold.
- Must wear work boots when on-site.
- Willing to travel and/or relocate.
