Job Description Summary:

As part of the Environmental Compliance team, assist the Senior Environmental Compliance Training and Education Manager with coordination and training efforts to help implement the SOLV Energys National Stormwater Compliance Program.

This position is can be Remote or Hybrid in San Diego, CA.

Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Assist with as-needed updates to the National Stormwater Compliance Program (NSCP).
  • Gather and record the certification requirements for stormwater inspectors across all projects and monitor the necessary qualifications for current inspectors as well as the prerequisites required to become certified.
  • Perform a benchmarking study of existing certificate/certification programs required or being used by PEs or SOLV Energy Inspectors.
  • Update SOLV Energy Environmental Compliance Page with all necessary and relevant environmental compliance reference documents.
  • Compile and continuously update the SOLV Energy Environmental Compliance Page with a project list that includes all project information, Environmental Team Leadership, and the communication hierarchy.
  • Assist with gathering state-specific threatened and endangered species and threatened and endangered species habitat information for further education and future training.
  • Assist with tracking, logging, and coordinating field trainings performed by Senior Environmental Compliance Training and Education Manager.
  • Assist with tracking and quantifying status of required Workday Learning Management System trainings for specific field management personnel.
  • Assist with compilation and distribution of training materials.
  • Once training is completed, assist with creation and distribution of certifications.
  • Assist with training SOLV Energy employees and subcontractors in NPDES/Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements and Best Management Practices (BMP).
  • Provide stormwater/erosion consultations to SOLV Energy Field Teams and SOLV Energy Personnel, specifically aiding in the communication and documentation of field changes and updates for compliance documentation and tracking
  • Assists with identifying and tracking force majeure weather events, unforeseen site conditions, and owner driven changes that would impact civil site work budget and work with Project PM to develop change orders.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and track onsite Environmental Trainings by Senior Environmental Compliance Training and Education Manager and for Field Stormwater Technicians upon mobilization to each project.
  • Assist with producing environmental training materials as well as disseminating records to the appropriate sites.
  • Assist in supporting the Environmental Compliance team with additional tasks as needed.
Minimum Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent, Vocational/Technical School training a plus.
  • Understanding of EPA and State Construction General Permits: The candidate should have the ability to read, interpret, and understand Construction General Permits. They should be familiar with the technical language and legal requirements outlined in these permits.
  • Knowledge of Stormwater Regulations: The candidate should be well-versed in current stormwater regulations and demonstrate a commitment to staying up-to-date with any changes in these regulations. This includes understanding how these changes may impact ongoing and future projects.
  • Effective Organizational Skills: The candidate should possess strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. They should also be able to maintain organized records and documentation.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. They should be able to clearly convey information to various stakeholders, including team members, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: The candidate should have a strong ability to solve problems. This includes being able to identify issues, analyze potential solutions, and implement effective strategies to resolve problems.
  • Research Skills: The candidate should have strong research skills, including the ability to conduct thorough and accurate research on various topics related to federal and state stormwater regulations and permits.
  • Coordination Skills: The candidate should have the ability to coordinate successfully among multiple parties and ensure that all parties are aligned and informed.
  • Proficient in Office Software: This includes Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Forms & Power BI)
  • Understanding of Digital Communication Platforms: Familiarity with platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Willingness to Learn: Be willing to adapt to new software, processes and procedures to continuously work to improve the Environmental Compliance Team.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high exposed places.
  • Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, heavy equipment exhausts, and other airborne particulates on construction sites.
  • Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to inclement weather and temperatures.
  • The noise intensity level is medium to high.
  • Must possess sufficient mobility with or without assistive devices to access all natural features, structures, and improvements on solar sites.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity with or without corrective lenses to visually inspect construction sites for evidence of soil erosion and sedimentation in discharge water.
  • Must have sufficient auditory acuity with or without audiological appliances to hear warning sounds signaling movement of vehicles and equipment on construction sites.
  • Must be able to descend to and ascend from ground level to inspect soil and hydrogeological site features.

$61,050.00 – $76,315.00
