Position Summary

A career in Environmental will provide the opportunity to ensure overall environmental remediation and compliance while being recognized by the business as a solution partner in resolving challenges and in identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating risk. Collaboratively plan and execute a wide variety of tasks and assignments that support the goals and objectives of the Environmental Department. Assists in the development and administration of the organizations environmental programs. Assists in ensuring environmental compliance with all federal, states, and local environmental regulations at all South Jersey Industries (SJI) companies.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist with regulated Greenhouse Gas Emission Statements and reports for the EPA, NJDEP, and any other regulated entities withing SJIs territories. As well as with compilation, review, and calculation of SJIs GHG emissions for the carbon footprint corporate inventory
  • Monthly compilation of emissions, gas usage, electricity usage; Make updates as need to carbon footprint
  • Attend webinars as time permits; emissions calculation; work with operations to update predictions for miles main / number of services; summarize GHG report for ESG report; calculate AGA template numbers; calculate blowdown numbers (saved vs released); calculate EFV numbers
  • Track waste generated a Company facilities and provide summary data as well as water usage; Review and confirm emissions calculations for all SJI facilities
  • Assist in managing regulatory compliance for all SJI companies Water quality: review sampling results, become familiar with treatment system, provide assistance for reporting and notification requirements for all facilities throughout SJI’s regulated and non-regulated territories
  • Underground Storage Tank tasks: Review requirements, ensure compliance, complete Annual Registration application; coordinate annual and triennial testing as required for all facilities with an underground storage tank
  • Environmental Audits: Complete quarterly audits at multiple facilities throughout SJI’s regulated and non-regulated territories; Review and upload reports to Pro-Sapien / HSEQ; Schedule 3rd party audit and send follow up documents
  • Waste Management: Coordinate and observe waste disposal activities; review and work with 3rd party to complete annual inventory of waste disposal from waste manifest information
  • Training: Review, revise, and ensure completion of training for multiple facilities throughout SJI’s regulated and non-regulated territories; Due Diligence review of business development projects: Review of Phase I / Phase II reports, Review of air permit application information, noise study, endangered species information, etc. Review and track invoices for 3rd party vendors vs budget, participate actively in weekly meetings with development / due diligence team
Required Background:
  • Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering or related field required with 0 years of relevant experience
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
  • Proven ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate across a network of stakeholders to drive enhancements and advancement of the Environmental Department goals.
  • Consistently demonstrate sound judgement in implementing solutions regardless of the magnitude.
  • Ability to present various analytics, metrics, or recommendations to management based on sound analytics and assumptions.
  • History of and interest in participating in various workshops and/or programs to keep up with new trend in the industry
  • Strong communicator. Possesses outstanding written, verbal, listening, presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Possess strong detail orientation skills.
  • Solid Microsoft Office knowledge with focus in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and various analytical tools and approaches.

  • Proactive self-starter; strong sense of urgency and responsiveness. Ability to work well under pressure and flexible in adapting and responding to change.

Compensation Range:

$47,250 – 75,600

We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidates qualifications, education, and experience.
