Job Description


Position: Mechanical HVAC Engineer Location: Overland Park, KS 66211 (Hybrid) Duration: 06+ months Contract with a high possibility of extension Key Responsibilities A HVAC and plumbing engineer interested in working on a diverse collection of building configurations.

Under general supervision, capable of performing all aspects of conventional design engineering, analysis, and studies on new and existing structures.

The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch’s Global projects.

The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for the engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities.

The HVAC Team Is Engaged In The Following

Design and Construction Activities

Project Delivery Methods – Traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid-Build.

Facility Types – Power Generation buildings, Substations, Oil & Gas structures Water Treatment and Energy Storage buildings.

Systems – HVAC and Plumbing.

Type of Areas – Power Generation Hall, Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, Pump Areas, Engine Generator, Blowers/Air Compressors, Wastewater treatment building and Flammable & Combustible Liquids Storage.

Studies

Energy Audit/Efficiency – Engineering studies, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations

Code Review/Application – Facility review for code compliance

Sustainable Design/LEED – Application of sustainable strategies

Person needs to be a LEED AP certified professional experienced in obtaining LEED’s certification for industrial buildings.

Extensive Experience With Large-scale Water-cooled Chillers Is Preferred.

PE License is preferred.

Education

Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

Typically, a minimum of 11 years related work experience.
