PEAKS Renewables is focused on business opportunities at the intersection of decarbonization and natural gas, including Renewable Natural Gas, Biogas, Renewable Hydrogen, and Power-to-Gas Opportunities. Peaks is a subsidiary of Summit Utilities, a privately owned utility holding platform that currently operates gas distribution companies in five states. PEAKS is actively developing several Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Hydrogen projects both within Summits utility territories and beyond.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Project Manager who can work remotely from any of the following states: AR, MO, OK, FL, SC, TN, KS, ME, LA or TX.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Engineering Project Manager will work closely with the Senior Manager of Engineering to provide all support necessary for development, design, and construction of new RNG projects. This position will serve as the technical lead for assessing the feasibility and overall technical viability of new RNG projects. Additionally, the Engineering Project Manager will develop engineering proposals, manage key relationships, and lead the overall execution of assigned RNG projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess technical feasibility of potential RNG projects from business development and M&A team (gas production, capex estimates, opex estimates, CI score, etc.)
  • Coordinate design and milestone deliverable dates with in-house resources, as well as outside sub-consultants.
  • Manage preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering design documents, with support of third-party consultants.
  • Coordinate with Business Development, internal engineering, and third-party consultants to draft major equipment plans and long-lead item procurement plans.
  • Work with Financial Planning team to develop and manage project budget for design, engineering, permitting, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop project schedules for design, engineering, permitting, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • In coordination with the Senior Manager of Engineering and EPC (as applicable), manage construction activities, including managing subcontractors, QA/QC, commissioning, and facility startup.
  • Collaborate with Finance Manager to ensure project parameters (capex, opex, gas production, CI score, etc.) are correctly incorporated into financial models.
  • Prepare, with support from external consultants as necessary, carbon intensity models for RNG projects.
  • Engage and lead interconnection process with utilities as needed.
  • Support Business Development Team in development of RNG projects
  • Lead, motivate, and drive internal project team members, contractors, and third-party vendors to influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work and deliverables.
  • Support development and negotiation of project agreements (consulting agreements, permitting agreements, EPC contracts, construction contracts, etc.).
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Responsible for internal project updates and regular reporting to executive team members.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Minimum 4 years experience within the renewable natural gas industry and/or as project manager (or equivalent management experience)
  • Experience with Carbon Intensity (CI) modelling
  • Project Management or Project Development experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, project schedules and technical materials
  • Experience and understanding of RNG project components and equipment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • High attention to detail, and ability to interpret drawings and instruction manuals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong competencies in cost forecasting and budgeting
  • Project Management knowledge and skills exhibited by the ability to develop and complete a design plan while having the adaptability to make appropriate changes when required
  • Strong ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects successfully while maintaining an even-keel approach and commitment to deadlines
  • Advanced engineering knowledge including exceptional mathematical proficiency; expert computer skills in working with word processing, spreadsheet programs, and MS Project
  • Effectively communicating with a range of peers
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well with others as the position requires a great deal of collaboration within all departments of the company. Ability to provide feedback in a positive and constructive manner is paramount
  • Exhibits a high-level of personal initiative and motivation to manage many projects simultaneously
