Due to growth CS Energy is seeking an Engineering Manager for our Operations group. The Engineering Manager is a pivotal role and will be responsible for technical oversight and management of design for all solar and energy storage projects. The Engineering Manager will work in conjunction and coordinate with Business Development, Procurement, Project Development, Presales, and Operations Teams to deliver the best product to our clients. They will review scopes of work, negotiate and manage design firms, and provide support to the teams on technical issues. Finally, the Engineering Manager will lead, mentor, and develop the team; will work with Director to champion quality, agility and precision. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Identify project requirements based on the utility interconnect agreements, contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, code requirements, etc. and ensure compliance of the disciplines
  • Guide electrical design, calculations, and review for required drawings, studies and technical reports.
  • Manage engineering consultants and third-party engineering firms for calculations, drawing packages, professional stamps, and value engineering
  • Oversee the creation of scopes of works for design; review quotes, negotiate, and manage engineering firms to maximize value
  • Track project design schedules and coordinate with the operations team to ensure expectations are set correctly and design deadlines are met
  • Lead internal and external engineering review meetings, support operations team on client meetings
  • Leverage understanding of construction logistics, site preparation, material, and labor costs to optimize designs
  • Perform quality control/quality assurance checks, including checking drawings and specifications prior to release
  • Accurately projects resource requirements hires and/or allocates other resources to timely meet the strategic objectives and considers all resource alternatives
  • On an ongoing basis, provide support to commissioning and O&M
  • Safeguard the organization’s intellectual property, proprietary designs, templates, and engineering work
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team and throughout the organization
  • Develops and executes effective succession plans; selects, mentors, and coaches the appropriate people to meet the management requirements of the organization
  • Manage, assign and prioritize tasks for the team
  • Drives and achieves results by setting the pace necessary for success and ensures the team and/or crews keep that pace by instilling a high sense of urgency
  • Undertake challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering problems
  • Execute on established goals, objectives, performance metrics, and initiatives to support corporate objectives
  • Work in conjunction and coordinate with Business Development, Procurement, Project Development, Presales, and Operations Team to deliver the best product to our clients
  • Review and improve standards, best practices and processes on a regular basis
  • Define and drive accountability, consistency, quality, standardization, and compliance
  • Travel to project sites when required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited university
  • 8+ years of experience in Photovoltaic and BESS designs, AC (LV, MV & HV) electrical design and power system modelling both executing on and mentoring an engineering team
  • 5+ years managing the technical offering for the Electrical Design on projects
  • 5+ years of experience with scope of work reviews, cost estimates, scheduling, subcontractor/vendor selection and contract reviews
  • Previous experience with track record of success in managing, leading and building a team of Engineers and CAD Engineers required
  • Strong understanding of all relevant codes and experience working with utilities across the USA
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects is a must
  • Experience drafting or reviewing engineering services contracts
  • Must be able to identify problems, find and develop solutions, make decisions, and execute them effectively
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • PE License is a plus.
