About the position:

The Energy Manager position will primarily focus on the efficient use of various utilities. This technical position will review existing processes, utility consumption, etc. They will develop/implement modifications that will assist in our company goal to reach carbon neutrality. This position will coordinate and complete multiple small to moderately complex projects to support strategic business initiatives on time, within budget, and scope. Sets milestones, assigns responsibilities to project leads and monitors and summarizes progress of projects. Coordinates to ensure all aspects of the project are agreed upon by functional areas. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex problems and refers more complex issues to others.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic portfolio-wide initiatives that result in reliability, resiliency, efficiency, safety, and reduced carbon emissions.
  • Identify building / mechanical / process issues impacting energy consumption; and analyze heating, cooling, ventilation, and lighting systems to determine optimum operating conditions.
  • Advise maintenance shops on energy efficient operation of building mechanical systems.
  • Develop and recommend maintenance project priorities for equipment and operational strategies to maximize operating efficiency.
  • Participate in the selection process of consulting services and the development and review of designs, working drawings, estimates, and specifications of construction and renovation projects that relate to the corporation’s utility infrastructure,
  • Determine the needs of utility infrastructure for renewal through utility planning to constantly improve the resiliency and reliability of the overall systems. This position will provide the technical leadership role in assuring a cooperative teamwork approach to the design, construction, and turnover process of all projects.
  • Clean energy master plan, oversight of energy management initiatives, development of decarbonization and renewable energy strategies and strategic management of all utilities purchasing.
  • Monitoring and analyzing energy consumption for multiple sites
  • Educate employees on importance of energy stewardship, implement dashboards, etc. to document department consumption and improvements
  • Managing utilities budgets and development of purchasing strategies
  • Tracking energy consumption and spending
  • Obtain State/federal or Miscellaneous funding for energy improvement efforts.
  • Actively pursuing and obtaining energy grants, federal and state tax credits, agency finding ops.
  • Compliance with the requirements of TICO Environmental action plan/ NYS climate legislation.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in energy management, sustainability, engineering discipline or closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years experience is required.
  • Demonstrate experience with HVAC and building systems integration, energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy systems.
  • Proven Interpersonal skills necessary to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Evidence of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills

It would be great if you had:

  • Certified energy manager (CEM)
  • LEED AP certified
  • Knowledge of utility rate/tariff structures
  • Experience with energy procurement
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations.

About the total compensation package:

Salary – $90,173 – $133,170 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation This position may qualify for relocation.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Ten or more years of in-depth experience in project management is required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience working in material handling or other durable goods manufacturing environment is preferred.
