Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Global Sales Bid Management, the Bid Manager position is key to providing manager level support of the origination and successful completion of sales bids and tenders. The Bid Manager has in-depth knowledge in energy related bid activities and processes and related disciplines; solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions; works independently; receives minimal guidance; takes a lead role in projects or project steps within a broader project or has accountability for ongoing activities or objectives; acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Requiring a collaborative approach and a high standard of communication (both verbal and written), responsibilities will include.
- Working with Sales and Client Managers, under the supervision of the Director, Global Sales Bid Management, to develop, co-ordinate and prepare formal global sales bid submissions in a timely and commercially successful manner and to a high quality.
- Supporting the sales teams in the bid qualification decision process
- Facilitating preparations for the bid / no bid stage and price / offer stages of the global bid process.
- Helping to further develop and maintain an effective database of bid responses, liaising with other departments, teams and subject matter experts globally to collate winning approaches to formal bids
- Set deadlines for sales bid content and information to be received and manage these deadlines, communicating accordingly.
- Ensure relevant and high-quality input from a range of stakeholders; technical, commercial, legal and financial subject matter experts and other capabilities across the organization globally.
- Produce professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the value proposition in alignment with the Energy and Sustainability business’ strategic aims and priorities.
- Support origination activities and access tender documentation via online portals and distribute to key bid team members, check live bid portals, update the bid team on new opportunities and changing requirements
- Support the Director, Global Sales Bid Management with administrative tasks to ensure an efficient bid management process globally
- Diligently grow energy market and internal capability knowledge, seeking to utilize such insight in global sales bid origination
- Provide help from time to time, along with the rest of the sales and marketing teams, with general support at busy times.
Person Specification (background And Skills)
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (preferred)

- 5-7 years of experience proven skills in producing and editing bid content within a complex business environment.
- Have an existing interest in energy and energy markets, both traditional and sustainable, and be willing to expand it rapidly
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Work well in a fast-paced, sales performance related environment to formal and immoveable deadlines
- Have strong organizational and time management skills, which will include multiple time-zones, requiring occasional work outside of normal office hours
- Have a collaborative approach and willingness to work with different cultures and nationalities to achieve challenging objectives
- Have excellent verbal and written presentation skills and a commercial inclination
- Can communicate with a range of stakeholders in many countries, in the English language
- Be highly proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and potential other presentational software
- Have familiarity working with Salesforce and Box
- Have a ‘can do/will do’ attitude
