Job Description


The Electrical Control Engineer position requires experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The salary ranges from $90K to $110K, and relocation expenses are covered. The location for this hybrid role is in Sugarland, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Programming: Develop and customize control systems, particularly for new sites and applications, ensuring efficient and reliable operations.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical expertise on control solutions for complex tenders, contributing to project success and client satisfaction.
  • System Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of new control systems, comparing available solutions in the market to inform strategic decisions and optimizations.
  • Testing and Validation: Lead testing processes to validate bespoke control designs for energy storage systems, ensuring adherence to performance standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Controls Architecture: Architect and implement robust controls architectures tailored for energy storage and hybrid applications, optimizing system performance and reliability.
  • Documentation: Document applications and their specific control requirements meticulously, maintaining accuracy and clarity for compliance and reference purposes.
  • Issue Resolution: Act as the primary escalation point for on-site issues, conducting thorough assessments and providing effective resolutions to maintain system functionality.
  • Standards Compliance: Understand regulatory standards across different regions, developing standardized document templates and processes to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and train less experienced personnel and trainers, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance team capabilities and performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing control systems, with a focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Expertise in bespoke programming, testing, and validation of control systems for energy storage technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and recommend optimal solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
