DOT COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Summary

The DOT Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring HQC maintains compliance with all federal and state DOT regulations required on all fleet vehicles and equipment. This position reports to the Senior Director of Commercial Management, or another management personnel that the head of department may designate. This position is in Ankeny, IA, working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours will be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 10%.

Essential Job Function & Responsibilities

  • Utilizes management system that provides detailed repair records, maintenance records and accurate tracking of fleet utilization.
  • Partners with Fleet & Equipment team to monitor fleet utilization – organizing, and coordinating fleet usage on simultaneous assignments for up to ~500 fleet vehicles or equipment.
  • Coordinates with project administrators to collect daily/weekly logs and inspections.
  • Reports weekly DOT status to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with and ability to stay current regarding changing Federal DOT regulations.
  • Oversees use and enforcement of Electronic Log Monitoring (ELD) across the organization, including monitoring of telematics; holds the business accountable for proper use.
  • Ensures Quality and Environmental procedures are maintained as related to fleet operation.
  • Understands contract terms and recognizes discrepancies.
  • Works professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers, and supervisors.
  • Completes random site visits for DOT compliance inspections.
  • Conducts on-site training at projects, covering DOT requirements and DOT policy.
  • Operates Company aligned vehicle for site visits and business trips.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled, or expected.
  • Provides project and ad hoc assignment support to EHSQ team, as directed by supervisor.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • DOT regulatory knowledge.
  • Fleet management industry best practices.
  • Ability to interface with team members and deliver on time cost effective projects.
  • Must have the knowledge and experience to keep the DOT program functioning in a profitable manner.
  • Intermediate MS Office and Outlook.
  • Strong Excel skills to generate weekly status reports and other ad hoc reports as requested.
  • A working knowledge of fleet or tool management software is highly desirable.
  • DOT experience operating under CSA 2010 requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Highschool/GED
  • 5-8 years of experience with 2+ years of DOT Compliance experience
  • DOT Compliance Management experience that includes managing a fleet dispersed across a wide geographical area, preferred.

SALARY RANGE FOR POSITION

The anticipated starting pay range of this position, which is to be located in Ankeny, Iowa is $110,000 – $130,000 base salary per year.

The above-listed salary range is required by the Iowa Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Ankeny, Iowa. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
