Distributed Generation/Renewables Energy Specialist

Education: Preferred Masters in Engineering or Economics

Required Skills:

• Experience: 15 years of recent experience in grid systems analysis and renewable energy integration, including battery energy storage systems.
• Integration: Proven track record of integrating renewable energy sources in both the U.S. and developing countries.
• Battery Energy Storage Systems: Experience with integrating battery energy storage systems and conducting site reviews.
• Technical Standards: Familiarity with technical standards and requirements such as NIST, and regulations related to distributed energy resources (DER).
• Modeling Approaches: Proficient in stochastic and deterministic modeling approaches.
• Forecasting: Skilled in load and fuel cost forecasting.
• Cost Analysis: Capable of performing cost analysis for various technology alternatives.
• Regulations: Up-to-date with current and developing regulations and technical norms for DER.
• Technical Reporting: Ability to write detailed technical reports with clear conclusions and recommendations.
• Commissioning: Experience supporting the commissioning of battery energy storage systems is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Utility Advising: Experience advising utilities on improving system operations with increased DER and automation/smart technologies.
• International Experience: Strongly preferred.
• Electrical/Power Systems Knowledge: Application of expertise to identify and drive solutions for large-scale utility projects.
• MV Transformers and Switchgear: Experience with MV Transformers, Switchgear, and protection solutions.
• Training and Reports: Ability to provide strong written analytical reports and conduct trainings.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise and develop comprehensive reports.
• Advise senior officials and develop training programs and workshops.
• Participate in customer meetings as a local technical advisor when needed.
• Some international travel may be required.

Expected Deliverables:

• Analytical reports with conclusions and recommendations to solve customer technical problems.
• Conduct trainings and workshops for utilities, regulators, and government entities.
