Job Description

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director/Sr. Director, Capital Markets to join our Capital Markets Group, which forms part of our Treasury and Capital Markets Team. The Capital Markets team is responsible for the market execution of the organization’s funding programs, notably issuance of the Asset Backed Securities and unsecured debt, together with the structuring of Loan Sales/Forward Flow agreements and ABS warehouse financing structures. This specific role is focused on leading our ABS program.

We are a remote-first company. This role can be based in most US states. The Eastern US (Eastern or Central Time Zone) is preferred

Your day-to-day

Mosaic is the leading and largest issuer of solar ABS, with market leading execution over the last 5 years. As the transaction lead you will maintain and enhance the asset backed funding program by maintaining financial models, structuring transactions that meet market and rating agency requirements and performing analysis that will allow the company to enhance and grow the program. As the transaction lead you will be responsible for the execution and maintenance of new and existing loan sale partnerships.

The candidate will need to have a thorough understanding of financial markets and develop an understanding of the company’s assets and financing vehicles. They should have a thorough understanding of discounted cash flow analysis and the ability to apply financial modeling techniques to a solar loan portfolio and financing instruments.

This position will be responsible for executing asset backed securitization and loan sale agreements with new and existing partners and an understanding of financial models for cash flow analysis. This requires knowledge of the factors that impact the timing and level of cash inflows and outflows.

This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills to speak with Investment Banks, syndicate partners, Rating Agencies and debt investors.

The lead will need to interact internally with the other members of the Capital Markets and Treasury group, Legal, Risk, Finance and Accounting departments as well as externally with rating agency analysts and investment bankers.

The individual must have the ability to think clearly and independently. The individual is expected to build a thorough knowledge of the operations of Solar Mosaic and its business practices over a short period of time.

Major Responsibilities Include

  • Execute all front office activities for new ABS issuances and Loan Sale partnerships.
  • Act as primary liaison for external parties, including but not limited to Rating Agencies, Investment Banks, Legal, Accountants and Trustees.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the rating agency presentation for each securitization transaction.
  • Structures the asset-backed transactions to meet market and rating agency requirements and ensure full compliance with all securities laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate and drive structural improvements and efficiencies to the ABS program.
  • Prepare cash-flow analysis for the Rating Agencies, Investment Banks and Accountants utilizing internally developed models.
  • Manages the audit progress for each securitization and delivery of the accountant’s agreed-upon procedures
  • Provides all necessary asset and debt disclosure to be included in offering documents.
  • Ensures the legal documentation supporting the transaction reflects the securitization and terms of Loan Sale agreements accurately.
  • Coordinate the necessary materials for the investor presentation.
  • Coordinate with various internal departments including but not limited to Legal, Risk, Finance, and Accounting to ensure proper deal closing.
  • Analyzes the performance of each asset-backed transaction and loan sale agreement and provides monthly and quarterly reporting to senior management.
  • Monitor the ABS market and report on activity and trends.
  • Build and establish strong relationships with ABS bond and residual investors to maintain and expand the ABS investor base.
  • Performs ad-hoc analyses to support requests by senior management.
  • Supports internal and external audits conducted on an annual basis for the securitization and loan sale programs.

What you Bring

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in capital markets, issuer, rating agency or related quantitative fields
  • Experience structuring, negotiating and marketing ABS transactions as an Issuer, Banker or Rating Agency analyst.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate a dynamic and fast paced environment in an organized manner; ability to execute strategic vision.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly in Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Team player: ability to work successfully with a variety of personalities and disciplines across the organization.
  • Ability to represent the organization professionally and to cultivate and maintain relationships with funding and capital partners.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to contribute broadly to achieve team and company objectives.
  • Must be able to handle multiple responsibilities under pressure.
  • B.A. or B.S. in Finance, Economics or other related degree

Bonus Points

  • Skills in SQL, R, or Python and Visual Basic
  • Prior experience in consumer lending
  • Masters in a quantitative field

Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $150,000 – $200,000. The position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. In addition, we’re proud to offer a range of competitive benefits.
