About the Position:

The Director of Project Finance will be a key leader within the organization, responsible for driving the successful financing of utility-scale wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This role requires an extensive finance background, with the ability to lead complex transactions independently. The Director will engage with debt, tax equity, and project acquisition transactions, contributing significantly to the company’s growth and success.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead key corporate and project finance transactions, including raising equity, debt, tax equity, and structured products, with a focus on government, strategic, and catalytic capital sources.
  • Serve as the internal project manager, coordinating stakeholders, leading project meetings, and maintaining schedules and budgets.
  • Develop and execute tax credit monetization and financing strategies, addressing working capital requirements for major industrial decarbonization projects.
  • Manage all aspects of transaction execution, including marketing, negotiating term sheets, structuring, financial modeling, investor due diligence, and documentation.
  • Lead due diligence processes, commercial negotiations, and manage data rooms for transactions.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with debt, tax equity, and equity investors, as well as strategic partners.
  • Develop and work with complex corporate and project finance models, with the ability to build models independently and mentor others.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to create innovative financing strategies for the company.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree required, MBA preferred, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in project finance, corporate finance, or investment banking, including 3 years in solar and/or storage project finance.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing, developing, and managing relationships with project sponsors, buyers, IPPs, tax equity investors, and project lenders.
  • In-depth knowledge of project finance for solar PV and BESS projects, with an understanding of key development concepts for risk analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to independently create and update sophisticated financial models for evaluating project economics and financing approaches.
  • Experience working with project developers and familiarity with the RFP process.
  • Proven track record in delivering results, including sourcing and communicating with investors, managing due diligence processes, and closing complex financing transactions.
  • Willingness to travel to various office locations as needed.
