Director of Transmission

Director of Transmission Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Transmission Engineering to lead our transmission engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of high-voltage transmission projects, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage a team of transmission engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship
2. Develop and implement strategic plans for transmission system expansion and modernization
3. Oversee the design and engineering of transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure
4. Ensure project compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, construction, and operations
6. Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for multiple transmission projects
7. Evaluate and implement new technologies and innovative solutions in transmission engineering
8. Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory proceedings, and stakeholder meetings
9. Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and regulatory agencies
10. Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and methodologies

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
2. Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required
3. Minimum 15 years of experience in transmission engineering, with at least 7 years in a leadership role
4. Extensive knowledge of transmission system planning, design, and operations
5. Strong understanding of NERC reliability standards and regulatory requirements
6. Experience with transmission system modeling and analysis software
7. Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale transmission projects
8. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
9. Strong business acumen and ability to manage complex budgets
10. Experience with renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies a plus
