Summary

Summit Ridge Energy is seeking a Director of Risk Management to work with senior leadership, departmental heads, and partners to ensure Summit Ridge is positioned to achieve its financial and operational objectives. The role will work across business units to ensure the proper implementation of processes, controls, and/or solutions to mitigate the risk of loss and/or improve corporate performance.

The position is based out of our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

Role and Responsibilities:

Corporate Insurance and Bonding

  • Broker selection and management of SRE’s corporate and project-level policies
  • Policy renewal presentation, negotiation, and selection
  • Project underwriting and binding
  • Claims management
  • Interface with investors to support project finance and closings
  • Manage third-party consultant reports
  • Manage partner certificates and contract terms

Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

  • Identify environmental health and safety safety-related risks to employees and project operations
  • Utilize input from staff, previous incidents, and partners to prioritize risks with regard to severity and preparedness
  • Help to ensure the effectiveness of the EHS framework through training and audit programs.
  • Investigate accidents to determine and address the causes and help track total recordable incidents
  • Provide expertise and advice on enhancing the design, effectiveness, and maturity of the company’s risk mitigation policies and procedures

Corporate Risk Management

  • Propose and implement strategies to address various environmental, social, and governance concerns focused around Summit Ridge’s brand, financing commitments, regulatory obligations, resiliency, and improvements to Summit Ridge’s financial and operational performance
  • Work with other departments to help mitigate key concerns such as cybersecurity with IT, information protection with regulatory compliance, and/or supply chain difficulties with engineering and procurement.
  • Assist in the information gathering, analytics, and reporting around sustainability program for senior leadership, corporate-wide, and/or investor dissemination on a quarterly and/or annualized basis
  • Optimize Summit Ridge’s use of corporate and investor capital to achieve desired financing and risk management outcomes, using both conventional risk transfer strategies (insurance, bonding) and innovative solutions

Required Skills/Competencies

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, environmental studies, finance, business administration or a related field
  • 5-7 years of risk management, insurance, and/or compliance-related experience
  • Preferred certifications include ARM, RIMS CRMP, GARP SCR, GARP FRM, and/or GRI CSP, but not required
  • Excellent analytical skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results while managing multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve objectives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
