Director of Control Center Operations Job Description

Responsible for the successful maintenance of an operating culture that embraces safe and effective utility solar operations. The Director of Control Center Operationsis also responsible for leading efforts in quality of work functions, operational guidance and direction, training of ACT Renewable Control Center (ARCC) staff, and overall strategic direction of the ARCC. This role will work full time five days a week with varying weekend and holiday coverages.

Roles and Responsibilities

ARCC Leadership Provide single point of escalation and management for all ARCC Operations personnel and lead other organizational requirements when need

Real Time Operations Provide management and direction for Control Room Manager, Control Room Supervisors, and Shift Technical support teams

Incident Response On a rotating basis, provide single point of leadership for ACT as the Duty Incident Commander

Special Projects/Initiatives Lead the ARCC personnel, support staff, and/or multi-disciplinary groups in special assignments to improve operational safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Strategic planning – Provide strategic support through responsibilities such as:

  • Assist with the management of forecasted staffing plan by providing personnel recommendations
  • Determine equipment, software, and training needs
  • Oversee execution of strategic planning in accordance with budget and corporate goals

Organizational and Process Support – Provide organizational support through responsibilities such as:

  • SOP development; including verification of information and supporting documentation
  • Work with Engineering department to accomplish monthly reporting in a timely manner, underperformance investigations, and remote access setup of equipment
  • Evaluate ongoing practices with periodic frequency to align with best practices for quality
  • Provide guidance to the Engineering department of remote capabilities ARCC needs as it is related to maximum care of client assets
  • Identification of strengths and weaknesses of processes and/or personnel
  • Redefining roles and responsibilities of ARCC personnel as necessary
  • Review ARCC personnel performance and provide feedback or instruction on a routine basis (such as monthly one-on-one meeting with direct reports).
  • Provide review and approval of PTO, sick days, etc. for all ARCC personnel
  • Conduct department meetings quarterly or other periodic frequency

ARCC Operations Quality Control Uphold and maintain standards within the ARCC

  • Maintain and uphold NERC compliance through ultimate oversight of all real time operations and associated processes
  • Maintain operational effectiveness of day-to-day uses of the CMMS through use of spot checking, following up, and reinforcement of ACT CMMS standards and policies
  • Review audits to ensure effective investigations and captured outages

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Management: 2 year (Required)
  • NERC Certification or equivalent plant operations certifications
  • 5+ years of electrical system or facility operations
