Job Description

The Director of Finance at CleanChoice Energy will play a crucial role in driving the financial strategy and execution for the company. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this position will focus on financial modeling, capital sourcing, transaction execution, risk management, and financial reporting. The Director of Finance will work closely with the President, VP of Finance, and other executive team members to support the companys project development goals and ensure financial stability and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with CleanChoice Energy’s project development goals.
    • Analyze financial feasibility, evaluate investment opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations for project financing structures.
  • Support CFO in Analyzing Consolidated Financials:
    • Work closely with the CFO to analyze consolidated cashflow modeling between the retail business, trading business, and generating business.
    • Allocate risks between the entities to optimize financial performance.
  • Financial Modeling and Analysis:
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of sophisticated financial models to assess the valuation framework that supports CleanChoice Energys strategy of using solar generating assets as a physical hedge for its existing and growing retail load.
    • Assess the viability of projects, analyze cash flows, evaluate investment returns, and assess risks associated with project finance.
    • Conduct sensitivity analyses and scenario planning to support decision-making processes.
  • Capital Sourcing:
    • Identify and secure project financing from various sources, including construction lenders, non-recourse debt providers, and tax equity partners.
    • Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, investors, and other key stakeholders in the renewable energy finance sector.
  • Transaction Execution:
    • Lead the negotiation and structuring of project finance agreements, including equity investments, construction debt facilities, non-recourse debt arrangements, and tax equity transactions.
    • Collaborate with legal and other internal teams to ensure contracts and agreements are aligned with CleanChoice Energy’s interests.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with project finance, including interest rate fluctuations, market risks, credit risks, and regulatory risks.
    • Develop risk mitigation strategies and monitor the financial performance of projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, investors, tax equity partners, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders.
    • Maintain open and transparent communication to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives, financial performance, and investment objectives.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Build and manage a high-performing project finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture that encourages innovation, professional growth, and excellence.
  • Financial Reporting to the Board of Directors:
    • Support in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting to the board of directors, including the preparation of reports and presentations.
    • Provide comprehensive analysis and insights on financial performance, trends, and key metrics to support board decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in finance, with a focus on renewable energy project finance.
  • Proven track record in financial modeling, capital sourcing, and transaction execution.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, investors, and other key stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Travel

  • This position requires occasional travel which can include project sites, industry events, stakeholder engagement meetings, team meetings, and CleanChoice events.

Compensation

This position offers compensation commensurate with experience and skills, an incentive plan, and a robust benefits package.

Base Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $200,000.00 USD annual.
