The Director of Intermodal Procurement will enhance the value obtained from the Intermodal supply base by leading with the strategic sourcing direction of the rail, barge, sustainability, and supplier diversity activities in the USA and Canada. This leadership position will also work on contracting of supply as well. This leadership position will work closely with stakeholders to align the business objectives to deliver value and cost savings.

This position will also investigate new developments relative to Intermodal and develop strategic recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve quality and service. The Director will be responsible for negotiating commercial terms and ownership of the procurement agreements with suppliers. Estimated annual spend is approximately $1.1B.

Provide support to the Vice President of Procurement in all needed tasks including but not limited to data analysis, presentation, reporting, strategic planning, contract negotiation, process mapping, sourcing technology, system updates and business development.

Responsibilities:
Develop and manage successful rail and barge procurement strategies. Strategy development involves supplier selection, sourcing tool selection, implementation, and successful utilization of a cost effective and efficient rail and barge network. Creative solution development.

Collaborate with Internal stakeholders; Intermodal, Equipment, Trade, M&A and Sales/Commercial teams to understand clients requirements to meet and exceed clients expectations as it relates to price and service. Provide cost effective solutions when utilizing all suppliers utilized by CCA/APL.

Initiate and direct management of RFQs and related project plans as required. Initiate and direct related project plans as they relate to the strategic plan, tactical needs, and commercial requirements. Develop new methods for cost reduction initiatives by creative planning/operating practice evaluations.

Continue to develop KPIs that measure strategic objectives of CCA/APL focusing on cost effective savings initiatives. Refine reporting process to capture key metrics that drive business decisions for Executive management review.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with external suppliers focusing on key strategic initiatives.

Bachelor’s Degree required

General Experience 10-15 years, Indurstry Experience 8-10 years

SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Advanced computer skills, Outlook, Excel, Word, Access and Power Point
  • Good communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent ability to manage and solve complex challenges
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze cost data to reach best cost solution
