A leading player in the renewable energy sector is seeking an Engineering Manager to bolster its dynamic team. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):
• Formulate conceptual specifications and assess technology options for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Optimize solar generation models and conduct detailed energy yield assessments using software like PVsyst.
• Develop BESS models considering factors such as end-of-life and system throughput.
• Evaluate third-party energy models and review technical documents for Solar+BESS systems.
• Lead technical reviews of engineering packages, commissioning documents, and interconnection agreements.
• Coordinate with Independent Engineers and oversee external engineering consultants.
• Maintain comprehensive libraries of PV components and BESS technologies.
• Provide technical guidance for site configuration planning and equipment selection.
• Assist in managing deliverables outlined in agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Interconnection Agreements (IAs).
• Support development efforts by securing necessary approvals and permits from government agencies.
• Offer technical support to operations staff and conduct ad-hoc analyses of equipment performance.
Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:
• Bachelor’s degree in an electrical infrastructure-related field; Advanced Degree preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in utility-scale solar and/or BESS modeling and engineering.
• Proficiency in energy modeling software such as PVsyst and other BESS modeling tools.
• Working knowledge of relevant building and electrical codes.
• Familiarity with utility-scale solar construction practices and equipment specifications.
• Strong proficiency in project management software.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
