Job Description

United is looking for a Design Supervisor to work onsite at the DTE Fermi nuclear power plant. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers responsible for mechanical and civil design, and general oversite of the electrical and I&C groups.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistent design execution and work product development for all project disciplines including mechanical, piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation and controls.
  • Prepare mechanical and civil drawings to support the development of plant modification packages.
  • Perform plant walk-downs to review existing installations and verify that the design was installed correctly by the implementation team
  • Work closely with the plant owners, plant operators and design engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in mechanical/piping engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of experience relating to design of mechanical/piping systems for commercial Nuclear Power Plants
  • 5 years of experience in design modification packages for operating Nuclear Plants in the United States.
  • Experience with the current and legacy versions of Bentley MicroStation
  • Demonstrated leadership ability managing multidiscipline design resources.
  • Ability to develop and modify engineering drawings such as P&IDs, general arrangement, equipment plan, piping orthographic, isometric, and structural drawings.
  • Must be able to obtain un-escorted access to a Nuclear Power Plant
  • Must be able to perform plant walk-downs at an operating Nuclear Power Plant.
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
  • Basic understanding of engineers process of performing and verifying design calculations to support the overall project design.
  • Field experience at an operating nuclear plant.
