Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create site layouts and designs in AutoCAD/Civil 3D for utility and commercial-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Apply broad knowledge of renewable energy system components such as modules, racking, inverters, and Balance of Systems (BOS).
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
  • Manage time efficiently across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with clients and project managers on their expectations.
  • Work under the guidance of more senior staff.
  • Work on or lead small projects or portions of larger projects in preparation of drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Collaboratively use judgment to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with discipline team members to complete assignments.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  • Receives direction on unconventional and/or complex problems, and possible solutions.
  • Receives a thorough review of completed work for the application of sound professional judgment.
  • Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar applicable work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in design and drafting utilizing AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
  • Prior solar PV system or energy storage system design experience is required, preferably at the commercial or utility scale.
  • Knowledge of GIS software tools is desirable.
  • Knowledge of solar PV industry-specific tools such as PVSyst or similar is desirable.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.
