About The Role
The Deputy Director, Marketing – Light Duty and Innovative Mobility will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing CALSTART’s marketing and communication strategies. This individual will be responsible for driving initiatives that enhance CALSTART’s visibility, promoting innovative mobility solutions, and light-duty zero-emission vehicles, and strengthening member engagement and services.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Planning and Implementation: Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communication strategies aligned with CALSTART’s mission and goals.
- Lead initiatives to promote innovative mobility solutions and light-duty zero-emission vehicles.
- Oversee the creation and dissemination of impactful marketing content and collateral.
- Member Services: Enhance member engagement through targeted communication strategies.
- Develop and manage member service programs that deliver value and foster strong relationships.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve member services.
- Brand Management: Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all marketing and communication channels.
- Strengthen CALSTART’s brand identity and market presence.
- Oversee the organization’s social media presence, website content, and digital marketing efforts.
- Partnerships and Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, industry partners, and stakeholders to advance marketing initiatives.
- Establish and maintain relationships with media, influencers, and other key audiences.
- Represent CALSTART at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor marketing and communications staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Manage external agencies and consultants as needed.
- Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for the marketing and communications department.
What You’ll Bring To The Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in marketing and communications, with a focus on the transportation or environmental sector.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Strong understanding of innovative mobility solutions and zero-emission vehicle markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in member services and engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
- Added Bonus: Passion for sustainability and clean transportation solutions.

- Experience developing and executing campaigns across a many time zones and languages
- Experience with customer segmentation, profiling and targeting
- Mailchimp and/or Salesforce experience

$105,630 – $120,260 a year
CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $105,630 – $120,260. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
