Job Overview

As a key player in our global engineering firm, which specializes in the energy and infrastructure sector, the Cost Management Specialist will play a pivotal role in overseeing cost management and financial analysis for a variety of projects. This position is crucial for ensuring precise tracking, reporting, and forecasting of project costs, which is essential for effective financial control and strategic decision-making. You will work closely with project teams to maintain budget integrity and enhance cost efficiency.

This is a full-time role that offers the flexibility of remote work and on-site support for a significant Refinery Turnaround project. The position is based in Denver, Colorado, and is expected to provide long-term support leading up to the project’s execution date in March 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Tracking and Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze project costs to ensure they align with budgeted amounts and financial plans.
  • Produce and disseminate periodic cost reports, drawing attention to any discrepancies or potential concerns.

Budget Management

  • Assist in the creation and upkeep of project budgets, including initial estimates and regular modifications.
  • Support project managers with budget reviews and updates, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.

Forecasting And Analysis

  • Perform cost forecasting and financial analysis to detect trends and offer insights for project planning.
  • Help in the development of financial models and scenarios to aid in project decision-making.

Compliance And Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and financial regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, proposing corrective actions when necessary.

Communication And Coordination

  • Collaborate with project teams, finance departments, and other stakeholders to maintain accurate cost information and effective communication channels.
  • Act as a resource for cost-related questions and provide support to project managers.

Record Keeping And Documentation

  • Maintain well-organized and current cost data records for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and documentation for both internal and external audiences.

Support And Training

  • Offer support to senior cost analysts and project managers as required.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in cost control and financial analysis.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in cost control, financial analysis, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in cost management software and relevant industry-specific tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
