A Snapshot of Your Day

The Control & Automation Engineer for reactive power compensation systems is responsible for SCADA, communication and control engineering activities, including detailed design for transmission projects. This position will offer the ability to directly apply candidates knowledge of communication and controls systems in substation and transmission projects.

How Youll Make an Impact

  • Perform all SCADA, communication/HMI design and programming aspects for FACTS and HV substation.
  • Develop Communication System Specification.
  • Develop HMI/RTU and communication System Configuration files.
  • Develop the Schematic Diagram for SCADA and Communications interfaces including RTUs, HMIs, and IEDs.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Test for Communication and Control Panels.
  • Perform Site Acceptance Test for Communication and Control Panels
  • Perform reviews of work performed by others.
  • Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements.
  • Ensure effective regulatory compliance to the NERC CIP
  • The candidate should be flexible to travel locally and internationally to customer meetings and to project sites. Approximate travel is 20%.

What You Bring

  • 8-10 years or more of experience with a focus on Scada/communications/HMI design for high voltage substations.
  • Experience with SICAM System and Siemens communication devices
  • Experience with PLC is a plus.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for communication system.
  • Knowledge on ANSI standards, IEC standards knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience of application of NERC CIP in high voltage substation.
  • Experience with various vendor IED equipment typically used in substation, including SEL, Siemens, GE.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
