Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing construction projects, preferably in the renewable energy or solar industry
  • Current OSHA 30; First Aid/CPR; and USACE Construction Quality Control Management certifications; or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Strong knowledge of construction techniques, safety protocols, and quality standards
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (Microsoft Office & Procore)
  • Familiar with USACE RMS CM and EM-385-1-1
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring high-quality work
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements

Responsibilities:

  • The Construction Oversight Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the successful execution of solar energy projects from inception to completion
  • This role involves coordinating and supervising construction activities, managing teams, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards
  • The Construction Oversight Manager works closely with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and company management to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with a focus on safety and quality

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project engineers, designers, and stakeholders to develop construction plans and schedules
  • Create detailed project timelines, outlining milestones, tasks, and resource allocation
  • Monitor and adjust project schedules as needed to ensure timely project completion

Team Management:

  • Supervise on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and company personnel
  • Assign tasks, delegate responsibilities, and provide clear instructions to team members
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and effective communication

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with safety regulations, codes, and company policies
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols

Quality Control:

  • Monitor construction progress to ensure work is executed according to design specifications and industry standards
  • Conduct regular quality checks and inspections through the contractor’s QC inspectors to identify and address any deviations from project requirements
  • Report non-conformance and deficiencies through ProCore and elevating concerns as needed

Resource Management:

  • Coordinate the procurement and allocation of construction materials, equipment, and tools
  • Optimize resource utilization to minimize project costs while maintaining quality and safety standards

Communication and Reporting:

  • Provide weekly QA/QC updates to project stakeholders, including company management and clients, on project progress and any potential issues
  • Document project activities, changes, and challenges in detailed reports

Problem Solving:

  • Identify and address construction-related challenges and issues promptly to prevent delays and maintain project momentum
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to develop solutions and implement corrective actions

Budget Management:

  • Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to the allocated budget
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose changes to project plans when necessary
