Job Description

Job Title: Compliance Engineer, BESS

Location: Remote, US

Travel: up to 50%

About the Company:

Our client is a turn-key provider of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions.

About the Role:

As the Compliance Engineer, you will drive compliance activities for various renewable energy projects. You will determine relevant standards, manage certifications, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, while collaborating with internal teams and external consultants.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project compliance activities and ensure adherence to applicable standards.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for product certification requirements.
  • Manage compliance processes with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) and external consultants.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance documentation, including product certificates and test reports.
  • Conduct testing for new or non-standard applications to meet certification needs.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
  • Provide compliance support to internal teams and train field personnel.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 4+ years of experience in compliance, systems operations, or related areas.
  • Experience with electrical and functional safety certifications and CAD tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as UL 9540, IEC 62619, IEEE 1547, NFPA 855, NEC, OSHA, and NERC.
