Job Overview

NET Power is seeking an experienced Compensation Analyst to support the ongoing design and execution of the companys total rewards program. Reporting to the CHRO, the incumbent will contribute to all aspects of developing, adopting, and implementing holistic policies that drive engagement and boost retention.

An ideal candidate will strike a balance in how they work. They should be structured and analytical in their approach yet able to navigate changing business priorities and thrive in a fast-paced agile environment.

This position will be based in our Houston, Texas office (in the Energy Corridor at 11720 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079). NET Power offers a hybrid work schedule, 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with CHRO and business leaders to recommend company’s total reward philosophy and strategy.
  • Develop and administer the annual compensation process (annual merit, bonus, and equity awards), including developing/updating budgets, guidelines, training and tools; preparing communication materials; and analyzing and advising HR colleagues and management on recommendations.
  • Assist with the design and management of the company’s base, bonus, and equity programs.
  • Serve as the equity plan administrator for the company. Partner with Tax, Finance and Legal groups to ensure well-run equity processes.
  • Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Maintain company’s job architecture and educate stakeholders on job evaluation, market benchmarking and salary ranges.
  • Participate in annual salary surveys, including preparation and submission of all required data elements.
  • Review proposed compensation on offers and internal promotions and counsel managers on compensation related matters.
  • Ensure effective communication/promotion of the company’s compensation programs and practices to Finance, management, employees & candidates.
  • Research employee benefits in similar industries and recommend changes or updates to the companys existing offerings.
  • Partner with CHRO to work with broker on annual benefit selection and manage open enrollment process.
  • Assist CHRO with preparation of materials for Compensation Committee and Board of Directors presentations.
  • Research, recommend and implement a rewards and recognition program aligned with business objectives.
  • Proactively support team members across HR and look for opportunities to improve processes, policies, and service levels.
  • Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly reporting on various compensation metrics and trends.
  • Responsible for administering payroll and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal tax laws. Additionally, responsible for accurate recording and reporting of taxes associated with vested equity.
  • Ensure compliance with compensation legislation, rules, and regulations.
  • As part of a small HR team, may take on other related HR tasks in support of the organization.

Education and Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • CCP, CBP, CEBS or similar certifications preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in the compensation and equity fields with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a public company preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in total rewards programs and human capital disciplines. Prefer well-rounded candidates who can support other areas in HR (benefits, reporting & analytics, talent management programs) as workload permits.
  • Experience creating and maintaining all facets of a job architecture structure.
  • Experience executing compensation programs that have several components including base, bonus, and equity.
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage cross functional initiatives that deliver results, using cross group collaboration and influence management, especially among resources not directly under ones control.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to think analytically, creatively and strategically.
  • Strong capability in resource planning and managing multiple deliverables.
  • Organizational agility, ability to deal with ambiguity, and adapt to change rapidly in response to business conditions.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; familiarity with Rippling is a plus.
  • Highly developed analytical and modeling skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail.
