Position Description:

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Commercial Solar Project Developer will be responsible for developing a new commercial solar business pipeline, generating new viable business and managing customer relationships from inception, closing and after sales, in an effort to meet and exceed sales goals. The ideal candidate will have the ability to build rapport with colleagues, team members and management and become a trusted advisor to customers and will possess keen insight into the northern California commercial solar market and customers needs and interests relating to solar energy.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assessments of qualified potential customers business and solar energy needs, including basic site characteristics, challenges; and opportunities
  • Implement customers objectives, energy usage, utility rate schedules, incentives and financing options to develop the most cost-effective solar energy solutions
  • Manage customer relationships from inception, to close and after sale
  • Utilize various methods / techniques such as referrals, cold-calling, industry-related networking events, social media marketing, etc. to build and manage a retrofit commercial solar business sales pipeline; maintain customer relationship beyond close of sale
  • Enter daily business building activities into internal software
  • Engage in daily initiatives of learning internal processes and procedures
  • Other related responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years experience generating, closing and meeting sales targets in California, within a similar commercial solar sales role
  • Knowledge of the northern California commercial solar market
  • Ability to evaluate, scope and specify systems from 20K watts to a megawatt; experience with forecasting tools such as Energy Toolbase, or Helioscope, preferred
  • Ability to explain solar financing options to customers and understand which options best fit the customers objectives / circumstances (e.g. PPA loans, rebates, PACE, SOMAH, MACRS, etc.)
  • Available to work necessary hours to meet and exceed sales goals, which includes evenings and weekends
  • Reliable car for transportation, a valid California drivers license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel around the Bay Area and occasionally to other geographies in California
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree, preferred
  • NABCEP sales certification, preferred
  • Experience in SalesForce a plus
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products

Compensation:

Base salary is $75K. Commission is also given for each successful sale without cap.
