Responsibilities

Job Purpose

This role will be responsible for supporting customer relationships, as well as coordinating and supporting the negotiation and execution of structured power transactions for development and operating projects as assigned. The primary areas of focus for this role will be partnering with fundamentals and the structuring teams on model economic analysis, assisting with pricing and structuring of offtake arrangements, proposal drafting and tracking, assistance with market analysis, customer intelligence and tracking, as well as internal coordination across teams of subject matter experts required to originate new business, finalize bids, and bring transactions through the execution process. This role will seek input and support from several departments such as Fundamentals, Legal, Credit, Accounting, Development, EPC, and Energy Management groups.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support power origination team in the process of structuring, negotiating and closing long term structured power purchase agreements and other revenue contracts.
  • Support project marketing and proposal development, including economic analyses and sensitivities to identify key investment drivers.
  • Conduct research on new markets, understanding policy driven customer demand factors, offtake products, and risks, as well as conducting due diligence on acquisition targets and greenfield opportunities.
  • Analyse available products, risk factors, energy price forecasts, and competitive data for incorporation into overall offtake strategy.
  • Integrate input from a variety of internal functional areas into a cohesive and succinct product for internal approval processes and proposal responses.
  • Interface with customers, coordinate proposal timelines and responses, general tracking and intake, both internally and with counterparties.
  • Liaise with structured finance team on relevant activities and full integration of offtake structures into financial models.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Engineering, Economics or related area combined with at least 3 + years of energy project finance analytical/modelling experience within a financial firm or energy development company.
  • Advanced degree and/or CFA certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with offtake structures, power purchasers, utility scale customers, and key power marketing contract concepts related to utility-scale renewable power plants.
  • Project Finance or Energy Finance acquisition, management or transaction experience strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and understanding of relevant financial modelling techniques.
  • Ability to synthesize and organize large amounts of data.
  • Ability to organize time well and set proper priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, power point and other presentation applications.
  • Exposure to utility-scale, renewable energy development.
  • Experience in CAISO, MISO, PJM, ERCOT or Southeast energy markets preferred.

Required Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in renewable energy, finance or power marketing experience.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $98,000 – $130,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
