Cell Design Engineer (Solid-State Battery)

Massachusetts, USA

We are partnered with one of the leading names in solid state battery development, bringing breakthrough technologies to the EV market.

They are looking for talented Cell Design Engineers to join their product development team, engaging in battery design, looking to optimize battery performance.

The ideal candidate must have experience working with sulfide solid electrolyte, either in a commercial or academic environment. You should also have a thorough understanding of how the battery works, assembly processes and how energy density can be manipulated.

Responsibilities:

  • At least 50% of your time will be working directly with research & development teams in lab settings.
  • Design the cell as per required performance aspects (power density, cycle life, energy density, etc.)
  • Analyse, review and feedback on the designed cell parameters to making sure they meet customer’s requirements.
  • Engage in cell failure root cause analysis if required.
  • Interface and work closely with Cell design team, internal R&D team, process team and production team to solve/mitigate the problems from the cell level.
  • Engage in responding to the customer requests by coordinating with the project managers.
  • Maintain compliance with all company protocols related to confidentiality, assignment of inventions, and other policies or duties as identified and assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 3 – 5 years of industrial experience with all-solid-state cell design, including testing, data, and failure mechanism analysis.
  • Experience with Sulfide-based Solid Electrolytes is essential
  • Experience with pouch cell or prismatic cell is required
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Statistical analysis and Machine learning related skills is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of programming (i.e. Python) is a plus
