Job Description

Job Summary:

This position will provide strategic leadership and vision for CDR efforts related to supporting the commercialization of dairy-related innovations. This position will engage with industry, external partners, funding agencies, government, venture capital firms, entrepreneurs and others to connect them with CDR innovations or bring innovations and opportunities to CDR. This position will assist with grant development and grant management. This position will be proactive in looking for new funding opportunities. This position will support the DBIA program.

Responsibilities:

Assists in the planning, promotion and execution of development events, leads the creation and updating of informational materials, interacts with stakeholder groups to cultivate and maintain relationships, and leads reporting efforts on the effectiveness of development activities of the unit.

  • 30% Assists with the development of strategic planning initiatives and objectives, program budgets, and monitors activity to ensure adherence to established guidelines
  • 5% Collects, prepares, and analyzes donor information and event data and provides subsequent recommendations for improvement and enhancement
  • 5% Schedules logistics and secures resources for event and program activities, facilities, participants, and vendors adhering to established timelines and expectations
  • 10% Assists with the design, development, and delivery of marketing and communication materials and other event publications to promote development events and programs
  • 30% Serves as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders at meetings and activities to advocate for and promote the interests of the unit
  • 15% Identify and engage with potential external partners regarding fundraising opportunities aligned with Center growth areas, e.g. valorization of dairy coproducts, value-added dairy products, expert opportunities, entrepreneurial support, research, etc.
  • 5% DBIA promotional work, commercialization and grant programs

Education:

Required
Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business, political science or related field

Preferred
Master’s Degree
Preferred focus on economics or related field

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Extensive experience in business and regional development for technical entrepreneurs

Preferred:

  • Experience with grant writing & subsequent project management
  • Experience networking across technical, commercial and funding agencies
  • Proven skills in linking innovation with commercial opportunities
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin’s Dairy industry landscape

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $90,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
