The Position:
This role supports areas of field Service operation within Sungrow USA related to commissioning, warranty, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the expanding installed sites in the region. Reporting to the regional field service supervisor, this position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning support of PV inverters and ancillary equipment/ systems, usually at the customer’s site or at a staging yard/warehouse. This position will comply with the Safety Mandate, “ZERO HARM,” to ensure safe and efficient work and operation of the facility for all personnel and equipment. Ensures that personnel and safety issues are given priority to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Implements and enforces safety management policy and procedures regarding the facility: safety information, hazard analysis, safe operations/Maintenance Training, subcontractor compliance, plant integrity, work permits, emergency planning, and response.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Field Service (FS) Supervisor leads a team of FS professionals assigned to a region (up to 5-6 regional areas within the US) and /or specific customer sites and, therefore, is accountable for the quality, on-time performance and customer satisfaction of Sungrow’s performance related to assigned areas of Service delivery – Commissioning, O&M, and Warranty.
- The majority of work managed is related to the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of string and central solar inverter and/or BESS Systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment.
- This role is for a well-seasoned FS Professional who is considered to have been well-versed in many areas of Service activities and can work autonomously:
- Troubleshoot and diagnosis under Sungrow’s maintenance and repair guidelines.
- Perform pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule and work plans
- Lead Preventive Maintenance and other Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) activities per the contract
- Lead investigation of solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients. For BESS positions, these investigations may also involve SOC checks and module /component-level troubleshooting, replacement of electrical/electronic parts, SW version updates, etc.
- Provide weekly and daily work status, assignment, planning and completion status for the team and provide updates to the PM, Service leaders, and other stakeholders
- Serves as a first-line field POC for technical and commercial matters under the direction of either the project team or a service leadership team.
- Contribute and manage the fieldwork documentation in compliance with the contractual requirement
- Manage contractor relationships at the field level and own the work validation and confirm invoice details as required to do so.
- Assign and prioritize work based on Service and PM guidelines and resolve field issues expeditiously working with other stakeholders,
- Ensure site documentation and job reports, ESR are completed in a timely and organized fashion
- Serve as a safety second for all activities including MV/HV maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Leads and reviews LOTO in accordance with customer and EPC site requirement
- Provide periodic review of work quality and performance feedback on FST’s and Vendors.
Education or Desired License and Certificates:
- Associate’s Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline from an accredited university or college or 3 years’ experience in an engineering or computer science field
- Renewable industry experience is desired
- Power Electronics experience is desired
- OSHA 30 certificate within 12 months of date of hire
- NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire

- Leads regular safety meetings / toolbox talks if onsite
- Delivers site-specific orientation as needed if onsite
- May conduct compliance inspections and audits of safety equipment
- May perform root cause analysis and executes a solution for common problems.
- Contributes feedback on quality and content of training
For BESS
- Expert at ESS-specific LOTO for multiple source systems
- Deep SME level understanding of operations and maintenance activities regarding HVAC
- Lead SOC balancing, Module replacement, charging, Capacity, and RTE test independently.
- Identifies and documents deficiencies or malfunctions in fire suppression and detection systems, explosion control and prevention systems
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities.
- A ‘completer-finisher’ taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm the success.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
- 7 plus years of overall experience in a technical field or equivalent college degree
- 4 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS or equivalent college or vocational training
- Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required.
- Must be able to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the ductions of the job
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- OSHA, NFPA70A, Electrical Safety
- Experience and/or certification with MV transformers a plus

For candidates in the states of California, Colorado, New York and Washington, the anticipated annual base salary for this role is between $85,000 – $115,000 This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The base salary offered is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, location, or other factors related to the role.
