Internal Job Title: Back End Software Engineer

Reports To: Manager, Software Engineering

Location: Remote

Position Summary

As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions that align with our business objectives. You will collaborate with designers and front-end engineers to deliver robust solutions that power our applications. You will work within our technology stack, which includes Node.js (TypeScript), PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Heroku,and AWS, to power innovative and high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and databases to support our software solutions.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability, considering factors such as performance, security, and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement APIs, ensuring seamless integration between front end and back end systems.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and maintainability.
• Perform thorough testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with team members to share insights, discuss technical solutions, and troubleshoot issues.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in software engineering, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Typically, 4+ years of proven experience in software engineering
• Advanced Experience in server-side programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, etc.
• Advanced Experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and database design principles.
• Knowledge of web servers and experience with RESTful API development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non- technical stakeholders
