Job Description

An innovative and rapidly expanding renewable energy company that develops, finances, and owns utility-scale solar projects is seeking to add to their legal team by hiring an Associate General Counsel. This pivotal role will position the Associate General Counsel as the lead attorney for one of the company’s three primary verticals. You will collaborate closely with the development team and manage all facets of project development and real estate transactions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced attorney to take a leading role in a dynamic and forward-thinking organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all legal aspects of real estate transactions related to renewable energy projects, including land acquisitions, leasing, and easements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate real estate documents such as purchase agreements, lease agreements, option agreements, and rights-of-way.
  • Lead real estate efforts related to project finance
  • Provide legal support and guidance throughout the lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from initial development through to construction and operation.
  • Assist in the structuring, drafting, and negotiation of project development agreements, including interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, and engineering, procurement, and construction constructions
  • Conduct due diligence on real estate properties, including title review, survey analysis, and environmental assessments.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice law in good standing in at least one state
  • A minimum of 4 years of legal experience in the renewable energy sector
  • A minimum of 4 years of legal experience with real estate transactions for renewable energy projects
  • Must have in-depth experience drafting and negotiating project development agreements including power purchase agreements and engineering, procurement, and construction contracts.
