Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking an experienced Associate Buyer to join our team! The Associate Buyer will be responsible for acquiring goods and services needed by the company, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that purchases meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The role involves processing requisitions, managing purchase orders, and working closely with internal teams to support organizational objectives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create and manage purchase orders to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders.
  • Evaluate and process requisitions to purchase orders, ensuring they meet company policies
  • Conduct market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
  • Analyze pricing and trends to make recommendations for cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Prepare and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly defined and adhered to.
  • Review and update contracts as needed to reflect changes in market conditions or company requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and provide support in obtaining required goods and services.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to keep them informed about order status and potential issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Prepare reports on procurement activities, expenditures, and supplier performance for management review.
  • Ensure that all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

Must-Haves:

  • 2+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related role.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Organized, diligent, and able to troubleshoot, problem-solve and prioritize. 
  • Positive attitude that embraces BRP’s core values of Collaboration, Ownership, Grit, and Creativity. 

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly IFS.
  • Experience in the construction industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
  • Experience with Purchase Orders.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • Must possess a current and active driver’s license.

Working Environment and Physical Demand:

  • This position can be remote.
  • The preferred location is Asheville, NC; for a remote position, some travel is required, 10-15%.
  • Must be able to work East Coast Hours, 8 AM – 5 PM EST, Monday-Friday.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to simultaneously balance many assignments.
  • The position works in an office environment.
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues, and propose solutions for the broader team.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer for extended periods.
