We have an exciting opportunity open for an Asset Management and Commercial Strategy Manager
with the ability to work remote from AR, OK, MO, ME, FL, SC, TN, KS, LA, NY, NJ, or TX.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Peaks is looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking professional to help shape and implement our commercial strategy for a growing pipeline of RNG projects. The role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the renewable energy space, contributing to environmental sustainability. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds who are passionate about driving positive change and supporting diverse, inclusive, and innovative solutions. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Originate new offtake opportunities for RNG and lead negotiations on contracts to sell gas and associated environmental attributes, collaborating with stakeholders across industries
  • Explore and evaluate potential market opportunities for ancillary products from our RNG facilities, including CO2, digestate, fertilizer, and compost, with a focus on maximizing value and sustainability
  • Provide critical market intelligence to help drive development and valuation of projects
  • Stay informed of policy and market developments, and identify trends that may impact market opportunities for environmental products and sustainable solutions
  • Support compliance activities for existing RNG projects, including life cycle analysis, reporting, and ensuring adherence to environmental standards for the growing portfolio of RNG projects
  • Cultivate strong, inclusive relationships with key stakeholders and potential business partners, and diverse community organizations to drive growth and create value
  • Representing Peaks at industry conferences and other external events fostering partnerships and advocating for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify various market opportunities for the sale of RNG and its associated ancillary byproducts such as CO2, fertilizer, compost, and digestate
  • Originate and manage commercial relationships in the various markets
  • Lead negotiation for environmental and ancillary product sales, ensuring equitable, win-win outcomes for all parties
  • Build market intelligence and maintain awareness of shifting trends in environmental policy and commercial markets for RNG and all of the associated byproducts
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including development, finance, and M&A, to provide data and insights that drive continuous valuation and decision making
  • Serve as a representative of Peaks at industry trade associations such as the American Biogas Council and Renewable Natural Gas Coalition and attend industry conferences broadening our network and deepening connections with a diverse array of partners
  • Assist M&A team with due diligence, focusing on offtake opportunities and valuation possibilities for making acquisition decisions
  • Ensure compliance with ongoing regulatory and reporting requirements for RNG projects including managing the carbon accounting and life cycle analysis of projects, guiding projects through registration and ongoing compliance requirements in RFS and LCFS programs, and representing Peaks Renewables with existing counterparties
  • Assist with preparation of presentation for the Risk Management Committee, corporate reporting, C-team, and Board presentations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director, M&A and Commercial Strategy or the Chief Operating Officer, with flexibility and a team-oriented approach

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three years experience in gas marketing, commodity trading, asset management, compliance, or origination, or three years experience in sales, business development, or relationship management within a large organization
  • Experience in energy or utility industry is a plus, with a commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive teams
  • Background and experience in energy, commodity, or financial trading is a plus
  • Bachelors in finance, accounting, business, sustainability, environmental engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MSc in Accounting, CPA, CFA, or MBA with a Finance specialization) are highly valued but not required
  • Environmental or government policy experience is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Strong ability in originating new commercial relationships and moving those relationships towards business decisions
  • Deep commercial understanding of commodity marketing or trading
  • Excellent communications skills, with experience presenting to both external and internal audiences in formal and informal settings
  • Experience with project management and reporting on qualitative activities towards measurable goals
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and an analytical mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously succeed across a diverse portfolio of responsibilities
  • Understanding of environmental policy and regulatory frameworks, including tracking, and identifying information that will shift markets. Interest in the structure of environmental commodities markets and fuel life cycle analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and a willingness to learn new tools as needed
  • Ability to travel 25-50% of the time for business meetings and industry events, representing Peaks as a leader in sustainability and inclusion
