Job Description

  • Design and procure equipment according to LVO standards – below hook lifting devices (BHLD), material supply carts, assembly fixtures, hand tools, reaction bars for fastening tools, mobile work stands.
  • Design includes, but is not limited to:
  • 3D models in CATIA v5 or Creo
  • Drawing/print package
  • Fixture ID number
  • Material order form (for tools built in-house)
  • Request for Quotation (for purchased tools)
  • Certification for BHLD (below-hook-lift-device)
  • Visual Aids for training
  • Lessons Learned
  • Lead the development of tooling and equipment solutions in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders (manufacturing engineering & operations, logistic engineering & material handling), gather requirements and work as a team.
  • Implement tooling and equipment with a “zero disturbance” mindset in operations – zero safety issues, zero quality issues, zero un-planned downtime – promote manufacturing safety, ergonomics, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team in the development of tooling and equipment to ensure design incorporates best practices from previous learnings to maximize equipment reliability and availability.
  • Participation in new product development to give inputs on tooling solutions and interface to product – mitigate risk by developing tooling concurrently with product design (DFM/DFA)
  • Develop long term solutions to problems with existing equipment in the factory, redesign to improve reliability and maintainability – perform kaizen and use problem solving tools in PDCA cycle – this is done with support from manufacturing engineering, production, and maintenance teams.
  • React to issues impacting production with a sense of urgency, promptly assessing the issue, containing the issue, developing a feasible long-term action plan, and following it through to successful completion.
  • Qualifications

    • 2-5 years of experience in Manufacturing environment
    • Preferred degree in engineering (industrial or mechanical preferred)
    • Knowledge of engineering concepts, manufacturing, assembly fixturing
    • Problem Solving/Decision Making: Taking a well-ordered approach to solving problems and acting despite obstacles, resistance, or ambiguity.
    • Possesses strong analytical skills and demonstrated focus on process and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
    • GD&T practical knowledge and experience preferred
    • Risk assessment and FMEA experience is preferred
    • FEA experience preferred but not required
