Position: Area Manager, Power Plant Maintenance

Location: West TN/North MS, including Jackson and Memphis

Overview: This position is responsible for the managing of corrective and preventative maintenance tasks within a defined set of facilities and for the leadership of the personnel providing these services. These tasks include the inspection, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and remedy of issues impacting the production of the solar PV facility, including repair and/or replacement of electrical and mechanical components and subcomponents. This also includes the performance of CMMS management, update meetings, and technician leadership.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a long history of leading small to medium sized maintenance teams and verifiable experience performing in a utility scale operations and maintenance role. Experience performing and leading maintenance tasks on DC, AC, and MV systems, communications equipment, and mechanical systems is needed as this position will provide real time subject matter expertise to all other technician levels.

PV Solar Operations and Maintenance experience is required to be considered for this role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the area field staff, organizing day to day activities within the operating procedures established by management to ensure maximum staff efficiency and maximum facility production.
  • Manage scheduled preventive maintenance tasks at each facility, including the full PV system, UPS, SCADA, substation, and MV/HV/OHE systems.
  • Manage corrective maintenance tasks, both scheduled and unscheduled, at each facility, including the full PV system, UPS, SCADA, substation, and MV/HV/OHE systems.
  • Review and finalize technician reports for PM and CM activities.
  • Own the CMMS KPI performance for the area.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in all areas of operations and maintenance, including PV systems, MV/HV/OHE systems, SCADA systems, and substations.
  • Manage field investigations to support predictive analytics, root cause analysis, and serial defect reports.
  • Assist in the creating and reviewing preventative and corrective maintenance SOP’s, schedules, and checklists.
  • Assist in RCA investigations for major events.
  • Participate in field staff goal setting, annual reviews, and professional development.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance SOP’s, schedules, and checklists.
  • Interface with 3rd party contractors and O&M providers as directed by management.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, collaboratively, and responsibly with team members and management.
  • Must be able to work alone as a self-starter and work within a team driving towards a common goal.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work outside in most weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Reporting: Bob Campbell – Manager, Power Plant Maintenance

Qualifications:

  • Advanced skills with computers and electronic equipment required.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat required.
  • Expert knowledge of NEC, NFPA70E, and OSHA standards.
  • Valid Driver’s License Required
  • OSHA 30 (must be obtained within 4 weeks of employment)
  • CPR/BLS (must be obtained within 4 weeks of employment)
  • State electrical license or NABCEP certification preferred.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the electrical trade, electrical maintenance, multicraft maintenance, or the completion of a recognized apprenticeship program required.
  • 2+ years of experience in utility scale solar PV operations and maintenance required.
  • 1+ years of experience in managing and leading utility scale solar PV operations and maintenance teams preferred.
  • Experience with MV/HV systems, IT systems, inverters, T&D systems, substations, or other specialized electrical systems required.
