Job Description

Overview:
Position Overview: Responsible for the apprenticeship life cycle from recruitment to completion, including community and candidate outreach and recruitment activities, onboarding, managing apprenticeship data and compliance requirements, and providing support services to apprentices. Designs and manages an effective program aligned with The Company’s business objectives, and the policies, procedures, and tasks required to maintain a safe, quality focused environment on site. Works collaboratively with multiple functional and operational teams to create and maintain a best-in-industry apprenticeship program(s).

Location:
This is a remote position, with up to 25% travel to office and project locations. This position supports our business across the United States.

MasTec Renewables group is part of the MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure business segment. MasTecs Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $4 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities; building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants; solar, wind, and thermal energy plants; buildings, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Build trust and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization, including staff, craft, stakeholders, and senior executives.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners, Talent Acquisition (TA) team members, and functional business stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and recommend apprenticeship program initiatives for target roles or under-represented groups.
  • Perform apprenticeship and workforce development daily operations and project management processes and procedures, including general program administration, data tracking, budgeting, grant management, record keeping, and reporting.
  • Ensure apprentices are progressing in the program by tracking On-the-Job Training (OJT) in the tracking system.
  • Schedule, attend, and/or assist in-person training courses with instructors.
  • Ensure program is compliant with corporate program standards and federal regulations, ensure existing standards and internal policies are maintained and updated, and rewrite/revise apprenticeship standards as needed.
  • Work closely with the US Department of Labor (DOL) and utilize the DOL Registered Apprenticeship Partners Information Data System (RAPIDS) to track and monitor apprentice progress to completion.
  • Work with recruiters to conduct outreach and recruitment strategies for future apprentices to build a network of apprentices to support apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Create and maintain strategic partner relationships with high schools and local community colleges to sustain the growth of apprenticeships.
  • Assist with grant-funded project activities, such as tracking and reporting of data related to apprentices, OJT and Related Technical Instruction (RTI), revenues/expenditures, and other deliverables to meet project milestones, fulfill grant and program requirements, and demonstrate program effectiveness and appropriate use of funding.
  • Serve as an NCCER secondary representative and administrator for The Company.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Technology Specialist to use The Company’s University to implement and/or track completion of RTI for new and existing apprentices.
  • Other job duties as requested by the Sr. Manager of Field Training and/or Corporate Services Sr. Vice President.

Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum ten (10) years experience relevant to the position or Associate degree (A.A.), Bachelors degree in business, education, workforce development, or other closely related discipline associated with the position requirements with minimum five (5) years of experience
  • Two years of experience in program management and/or workforce development including planning, coordinating, and implementing educational programs
  • Preferred Experience with Apprenticeships
  • Preferred Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Preferred NCCER Master Trainer Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Functional computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and drive change across the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Familiarity with quality, continuous improvement and a training background is helpful
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Valid Drivers License. (CDL Preferred)
